Fake Polaroids

I took these some time last year, back when I was doing photography as an a-level. I can't remember who or what I was influenced by, (it may have been Andy Warhol's Polaroid series) but they turned out to be my favourite photos.
.
I love portraiture - a lot. There's something about capturing a face, regardless of their expression, that makes the photograph so intimate and personal. I loved how some photos were ambiguous and spontaneous; sometimes the person would be out of frame because they were laughing so much- it becomes very real. I I also loved how empty and spacious the background was, just so you could only focus on the person; it gives it an element of simplicity.

I titled them 'Fake Polaroids' simply because I printed all of them, 6x6 cm, and stuck them on little slightly bigger rectangular pieces of white card to make it seem like they were Polaroids. Obviously, I didn't have the actual Polaroid camera, the process of making it was very therapeutic, I'd do it all again.

I post most of my photography stuff on Instagram, so follow me on there if you'd like to see more:

Take care
